Blumineck’s Bloom from MinMaxed S1

Hi it’s been awhile since I’ve posted. A lot of stuff has been worked on, completed, still in progress. Enough so I haven’t had a chance to update this blog. But… here’s something I can share that I recently completed.

Orange & Earthtoned fey elf character hanging upside down from a chandelier with a bow in an outstretched hand and his other hand by his face as if he had just fired an arrow. The character is Blumineck's player character Bloom from the Min-Maxed Season 1 D&D live play

About Bloom & Min Maxed

I’ve been avidly watching MinMaxed’s Season 1 D&D live play, featuring popular shorts creators (TikTok, IG Reels, and Youtube Shorts) of the martial skills subject: SellSwordArts, Blumineck, JacqueszeWhipper, InstructorBensei, and Tater the Bard. Organized by the members of SellSwordArts, this show came about from their fans wanting to see their personas together playing a game of D&D. And so far, the combined team has delivered!

Unlike other more popular live plays, this one feels the most cozy and at-home to me. The kind of game I would like to play. And each player is bringing a little to the table in order to bring it alive, whether that’s singing, descriptive explanations of their actions, or just… chaotic glee at breaking the DM’s best laid plans with out-of-the-box creativity. I’ve been enjoying and awaiting each episode every other Sunday. If I were to give any complaint? It’s that the 1 every other week is way too slow, especially when the episodes are chopped up so short. But that’s a low complaint. I acknowledge that they’re working with different limitations than most live-plays and will be adjusting and figuring things out as they go.

Anyways, in Season 1, Episode 1, there’s a 1st battle situation where a group of assassins masked mysterious figures fight the party member and Blumineck in a stroke of creative inspiration, decides to have his character jump on the banquet table, leap onto the chandelier and hang upside down from it in order to take his archery shot. Very… “on brand”. XD

The rest of the episode (and the season so far) is full of character actions mimicking their on-screen personas. Plenty of inspiration for other fanart portraits. But this is the one that stuck into my head. I really wanted to take on this perspective challenge.

Drawing Process

Step 1: Sketch and 3D models from Clip Studio used for reference before drawing the image
I used Clip Studio’s 3D models to position the figure and chandelier for reference. I’m sure I could have sketched this without the models, but this just made it way quicker to position and design the composition and perspective before starting the sketch phase.

I’ll fill this section out more another day. For now, here’s a video timelapse:
